This Privacy Policy is designed to clearly inform users of KodeScanner – AI PDF & Document Scanner ("App" or "Service") regarding our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you explicitly agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information Collection and Processing

A. User-Provided Data (Documents and Files)

The App processes your files and documents to perform core features like scanning, OCR, eSign, and PDF management.

2. How We Use the Information

**To Provide Service:** To process your scanning requests, perform OCR, and convert documents.
**To Maintain App Security:** To monitor and prevent technical errors and fraudulent activity.
**For Communication:** To respond to support inquiries and notify you of essential updates.
**To Serve Ads:** To display relevant advertisements through third-party ad networks, which helps us keep the App free to use.
**For Analytics:** To understand how users interact with the App, which guides future feature development.

3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We only share data with third parties to operate essential App functions (AI processing) and for advertising purposes. **We DO NOT sell your personal or document data.**

A. Advertising Partners (Ads and Monetization)

The App uses various ad networks to serve advertisements. These partners may collect and use information about your device and interests to provide personalized or non-personalized ads.

B. Service Providers (AI and Analytics)

**Cloud AI Services:** Used for complex OCR and AI features. Files are processed and immediately deleted.
**Firebase Analytics:** Used to measure user engagement and App performance.

4. In-App Purchases, Subscriptions, and Refunds

A. Subscriptions and Premium Services

**Service:** KodeScanner offers optional subscription plans (Premium Services) that unlock enhanced features such as unlimited cloud storage, high-resolution scanning, ad removal, and exclusive OCR models.
**Payment:** Subscriptions are processed by the respective App Store (e.g., Google Play, Apple App Store). We do not collect or store your payment details.
**Auto-Renewal:** Subscriptions typically renew automatically unless canceled through the App Store settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle.

B. Refund Policy

**Direct Refunds:** We generally **do not** issue direct refunds for in-app purchases or subscriptions.
**App Store Policy:** All purchase and refund requests are managed by the App Store provider (Google Play or Apple). Please refer to the specific App Store’s terms of service and refund policies for any inquiries regarding billing disputes or refunds.

5. Data Security and Retention

**Data Security:** Data is protected using secure practices, including data encryption in transit (HTTPS) and secure storage protocols. Sensitive documents can be secured locally using Biometric authentication.
**Data Retention (Temporary):** Uploaded files for AI processing are **deleted from our servers immediately** after the processing is complete.
**Data Retention (Local/Saved):** Documents saved by the user are stored on the user's device. If the optional cloud sync is enabled, data is stored securely until the user deletes it.

6. Required App Permissions and Data Safety

The permissions requested by the App are strictly necessary to perform the advertised functions.

Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`)	Required (Android 13+) to show local notifications for processing status or reminders.
Biometric Security (`USE_BIOMETRIC`)	Allows the user to secure the App or specific sensitive documents with face ID or fingerprint authentication.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective immediately after they are posted.

8. Disclaimer of Unlawful Use

KodeScanner is provided solely as a tool for personal and professional document management. **You, the User, are solely responsible for the content of the documents you scan, store, or share, and for any use of the App's features.**

The App must not be used for any illegal or unauthorized purposes.
KodeScanner accepts **no liability** for any damages, legal consequences, or claims arising from the user's unlawful use of the App, including but not limited to the scanning of fraudulent documents, infringement of copyright, or misuse of electronic signatures.
By using the App, you agree to **indemnify and hold harmless** KodeScanner from any claims or demands resulting from your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
